Google Docs Gets File Storage: Is This the GDrive?

Google on Tuesday is making a big move with its Docs service, opening it up to all types of file uploads. This includes photos, movies, music, and ZIP archives, all of which will be stored on Google’s servers.

Along with opening up Docs to additional file types, Google is also dramatically increasing the size of individual uploads. Where the company will still limit users to 500KB for Microsoft Word documents, and 10MB for PowerPoint presentations and PDFs, the new limit for all other files that cannot be converted into a Google Docs format is 250MB. This is 10 times the size of what’s allowed as an attachment in the company’s Web mail service Gmail.

In a post on the company’s blog, Google Docs’ product manager Vijay Bangaru said that the new size and file type allowances serve to make Docs a replacement for USB drives, allowing users to access their files between computers. The company is also applying the same permissions-based sharing system it has for documents that it hosts, allowing users to share files with one another.

That said, the amount of space for non-Google Docs files that are stored within Docs will only be 1GB. Users can upgrade though, and Google is planning on that.

Just like users can purchase additional space for other Google services like Picasa Web Albums and Gmail, users will soon be able to rent space from Google. For standard Google Docs users this will be 25 cents per gigabyte, per year, while Google Apps enterprise users have to pay $3.50 per gigabyte, per year. That’s a hefty price difference, but customer support, and a service level agreement that guarantees uptime add costs.

But just as the bust hit a few months later, Google was pairing a savvy business model with great technology, Apple was most decidedly getting its mojo back, and Bill Gates was becoming exasperated with those pesky trustbusters.

Since then, Google became a giant, the iPhone broke through the smartphone design barrier, and social media went mainstream. But what was the biggest story? As the decade comes to an end, we offer our list of the 10 most important tech stories of the decade

1. Google launches Adwords and becomes tech’s most important company

Without Adwords, Google is a terrific search engine in search of a business model. Launched in 2000, Adwords added the little contextual ads next to the billions of searches conducted on Google engine. By the close of 2009, those little ads, along with the contextual ads run on partners through the Adsense service, brought in the vast majority of

Google’s estimated $17.39 billion in annual revenue.

Sure, it’s a question of the chicken or the egg. You can’t sustain a business without revenue. And you can’t bring in revenue (in this case through one very smart acquisition) without a compelling product. The combination of the two is what makes Google Google. But without those little ads, the Google story becomes a tale of a technical curiosity rather than the rise of a business powerhouse to rival Microsoft and, arguably, the most important company in tech.

Interestingly, as the decade comes to an end, Google is drawing the sort of unwanted government scrutiny that Microsoft received in the ’90s. Will Google be humbled by the trustbusters in the coming years? Or will it learn from Microsoft’s mistakes and make nice with the feds before business plans get squashed? For the tech press, that’s likely to be the biggest story of all in the coming decade.

is it going to be happy or sad end?

i have been thinking about that and i saw a lot of love stories and read also statistics and i found out that most of them end in a sad way and i don’t know why?! i wish i can figure that out.

we can read that also in the most famous Novels and see it in movies that the lovers get disbanded in tragic way.

Romeo and Juliet as a Love Novel and also the Titanic movie. yes its however historical one about the fact of the Ship.. but we here Focusing on a specific part, that he die in the end.

Why?!!!! Why some one have to die, why that love story didn’t complete. Why they didn’t live happy after?!

Or that’s only happens in fairy tales?!! does really love means sadness at end?

Why pain and tears are always linked with love?

Do you have a perfect partner ?

what is our thoughts about the perfect person ? is it really true that perfect man and perfect woman not exist ?

lot of people say yes,perfection does not exist in this life, as there is no one perfect!

Ok, i know that no one is perfect and no one is flawless, but i am not talking about that.

because word of perfection means that you are 100% perfect in everything and that’s impossible.

how about in relationship ? you think your partner is perfect ?

there some say ofcourse no, i love my boyfriend/girlfriend but he/she is not perfect.

But i got my opinion is that one.

I think a perfect partner can be existed in relationships

yes, perfect person does exist..i think whoever can stay by your side, dependable, standing by you in the bad times before the good ones, absorbing your sorrow

and turning it into joy,can make you feel special every day, can be in anywhere in the world but he prefer to be with you because life is better by your side, even could know you better than you know your self.

that would be a perfect person.. and guess what? there is people have found their perfect persons.

For sure that person will have alot of bad sides but you ignore that and focus only on the good, because that’s what love is all about.

Maybe also that So-called “perfect person” is not perfect in my eyes, but in your eyes it is.

it’s like when you love some one, she/he can be the most beautiful person ever, however the truth that there are many much beauitful than him. did you got the point ?

We make our perfect partners.
